LIWLIG is the largest event and brand experience agency in the Nordics, with operations across Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and the United Kingdom. In Sweden, four leading event and communications agencies came together in 2024 to form a stronger, unified organisation. Through hundreds of events every year, the agency helps brands create meetings and experiences that engage employees, support business objectives and inevitably generate a footprint that has to be addressed.

Reducing emissions at source

The sustainability strategy is built on a simple principle: first avoid and minimise, then address what cannot be avoided. The largest emissions in event production sit in transport, food and beverages, energy use, materials and waste. Through the internal LIWLIG Responsibility Guide, project teams get support to make more sustainable decisions from planning onwards.

Suppliers are held to LIWLIG's Code of Conduct, and selected projects are certified to the Greentime standard for sustainable events. Each event's climate impact is estimated up front, then verified through carbon calculations after delivery.

Carbon measurement helps us understand where emissions occur and which actions make the greatest difference. It is by reducing emissions within our projects that we can create meaningful impact over time.

Climate finance for remaining emissions

After every project, clients receive a report detailing the event's carbon footprint and can choose to provide climate finance for the residual emissions through LIWLIG, do so independently, or opt out. For many clients this has become a natural part of how they handle the sustainability of their events - and many larger buyers now request carbon calculations during procurement.

From global to Nordic projects

Reviewing the climate finance portfolio, LIWLIG wanted initiatives with a stronger Nordic connection - climate benefits that are easier to understand, communicate and monitor. Together with Atmoz, the portfolio was rebuilt around two types of solutions: projects that prevent future emissions, and nature-based projects that strengthen ecosystems' ability to store carbon over time.

  • EcoUp (Finland): insulation made from recycled paper and cardboard, replacing conventional insulation with roughly 75% lower emissions, then reusable, recoverable for energy or usable as a soil improvement product at end of life.
  • Boreal Mix (Sweden): long-term protection of high-conservation-value old-growth forest, carried out in dialogue with Sámi stakeholders to consider reindeer grazing lands and migration routes.
Atmoz helped us develop a portfolio of climate projects guided by climate impact, biodiversity and local relevance. For us, the most important thing was finding projects that feel relevant and closely connected to our business.
