Solar system to strenghten the electricity grid

In one of India’s most polluting districts, the Bhadla Solar PV park is an important step towards renewable energy supply. The project will harness the untapped solar potential of the region and help strengthen the unstable electricity grid.

Temperatures above 45-50 degrees

Bhadla Solar is located in the Rajasthan region, which is severely affected by climate change, with temperatures between 45 and 50 degrees Celsius. This makes the area difficult to live in, with many deaths as a consequence. In India, the dominant energy source is coal, which has led to extensive pollution. According to the World Air Quality Report, the city of Ghaziabad in Rajasthan is one of the top three most polluted cities in all of India. During periods, cities in the region are filled with thick layers of dirt and smoke, which reduces visibility by several meters. The pollution causes breathing difficulties, is directly dangerous for people with impaired health and increases the risk of asthma in young children.

492 thousand tons of tCo2e per year in reduced climate impact

This is equivalent to the climate impact of 49,238 Swedes annually. The region’s relatively low population density and high temperatures make the state perfect for the country’s new push towards solar parks.

33 employees in the project

The project has created many jobs for the local population. Currently, 33 people are employed for operation and maintenance and have also undergone thorough training.
